What is Zimpler and what do they do?

Zimpler is a Sweden-based Pay by Bank provider offering account-to-account (A2A) payment solutions that let businesses send and receive funds directly between bank accounts, without cards or digital wallets. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Stockholm, the company built its platform on open banking rails, using bank authentication to initiate both instant deposits and payouts.

The product set covers real-time deposits, fast payouts, and cross-border euro payments via SEPA, as well as Paylink for invoice payments and a budget-management tool that lets end users set their own spending limits. Zimpler was the first non-bank payment provider to connect directly with Sweden's Swish payment system, giving merchants access to Swish without a separate bank agreement. The company also holds certification from the Brazilian Central Bank as a payment institution, extending its reach into Latin America. In October 2025, UK open banking provider TrueLayer agreed to acquire Zimpler; the deal was completed in March 2026 following approval from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, bringing Zimpler into a combined pan-European Pay by Bank network serving more than 20 million users.

Who is it for?

Zimpler is built for businesses that need fast, compliant bank-to-bank payments across Northern Europe and beyond. iGaming and online gambling operators make up its core customer base, drawn by instant deposits and payouts and built-in responsible-gambling tools. The platform also serves investment platforms, digital trading services, and e-commerce merchants that want to offer local pay-by-bank methods instead of relying solely on cards.

Why do businesses choose Zimpler?

  • High conversion, low friction: deposits are authenticated via bank login rather than card entry, which Zimpler reports drives conversion rates up to 98%.
  • Fast payouts: Zimpler Instant Payouts can settle withdrawals in minutes, compared with the 1–3 business days typical for card refunds, subject to the merchant's verification checks.
  • Local rail access: direct Swish connectivity gives merchants a widely used Swedish payment method without negotiating a separate bank agreement.
  • Cross-border reach: SEPA-based euro payments and Brazilian Pix certification support both European and Latin American expansion.
  • Built-in compliance and player protection: an AML-compliant platform combined with deposit limits and spending overviews, useful for regulated markets such as iGaming.

Is Zimpler trustworthy?

Zimpler is a licensed Swedish payment institution, supervised by Finansinspektionen (the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority), and has held this license since 2017. The company operates on an AML/KYC-compliant platform and requires SMS-based authentication for account access and transactions.

Beyond its home market, Zimpler is regulated across other EU jurisdictions and is used extensively in Sweden, Finland, and Germany, with certification from the Brazilian Central Bank supporting its expansion into Latin America. Since March 2026, Zimpler has operated as part of TrueLayer, Europe's Pay by Bank network, backed by investors including Stripe, Northzone, and Tiger Global — adding further scale and regulatory oversight to its Nordic payments infrastructure.
