Ozow

Easy, fast, trusted

Supports in this guide: Payments, Payouts

Provider website: ozow.com

What you need to do for start processing transactions (brief summary)

  1. Choose account type
  2. Get your credentials (from Ozow)
  3. Connect in Dashboard
  4. Send an API request

Choose account type

Ozow can be connected in different ways (depending on your needs):

  • If you do Payments -> choose Merchant account
  • If you do Payouts -> choose Provider account

Both are separate connections on Corefy, even though Ozow itself is a single South African instant EFT / pay-by-bank provider. If you're not sure which one to use, confirm with your Corefy account manager.

Prerequisites: get from Ozow

Contact your Ozow account manager to get your account verified and receive the following credentials.

For Merchant account:

  • Site ID -> Corefy field site_id.
  • API Key -> Corefy field api_key.
  • Private Key -> Corefy field private_key -> used to sign every request.

For Provider account:

  • Site ID -> Corefy field site_id.
  • API Key -> Corefy field api_key.

Note

For Payouts, only the specific banks Ozow actually confirms as available for your account (fetched live at connection time) are exposed as routes.

Payments processing (connect Merchant account, create payment-invoice)

Connect Merchant account in Corefy Dashboard

Step 1 - Open connection form

Open Ozow in the provider directory and press Connect at Ozow Provider Overview page in the New connection section. Choose Merchant account.

Step 2 - Fill in fields and select settings

  • Site ID
  • API Key
  • Private Key
  • Test Mode -> (enable if you are using sandbox credentials)

Success

You have connected Ozow Merchant account!

First request to Corefy API (MIN)

What it does: creates a payment-invoice and redirects the customer to an Ozow-hosted page to complete an instant EFT (bank transfer) or a specific bank's pay-by-bank flow (Capitec Pay, Absa Pay, Nedbank Pay).

Payment - MIN

POST /api/payment-invoices

{
  "data": {
    "type": "payment-invoice",
    "attributes": {
      "reference_id": "6a7b8c91-2d3e-4f5a-8b67-8c9d0e1f2a3b",
      "service": "bank_transfer_zar_hpp",
      "currency": "ZAR",
      "amount": 10
    }
  }
}

This connector also supports capitec_pay_zar_hpp, absa_pay_zar_hpp, nedbank_pay_zar_hpp.

Payment - MAX

POST /api/payment-invoices

{
  "data": {
    "type": "payment-invoice",
    "attributes": {
      "reference_id": "7b8c9d02-3e4f-4a5b-8c78-9d0e1f2a3b4c",
      "service": "bank_transfer_zar_hpp",
      "currency": "ZAR",
      "amount": 10,
      "customer": {
        "reference_id": "cus_123",
        "individual_tax_id": "1234567890123",
        "address": {
          "country": "ZA"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}

customer is entirely optional. customer.address.country defaults to ZA if not sent.

Extended request (MAX)

Why add extra fields (typical reasons): - Provide additional customer details for compliance/reconciliation - Positively influence conversion rate - Include optional fields required by your specific flow

No Constants are configured for this connector.

Options

  • expire_after_minutes -> optional, number - how many minutes the payment page stays valid before expiring; if omitted, Ozow uses its own default.
  • bank_reference -> optional, string - the reference shown on the customer's bank statement; if omitted, the first 20 characters of your payment reference are used instead.

Refunds

This connector does not support refunds.

Payouts processing (connect Provider account, create payout-invoice)

Connect Provider account in Corefy Dashboard

Step 1 - Open connection form

Open Ozow in the provider directory and press Connect at Ozow Provider Overview page in the New connection section. Choose Provider account.

Step 2 - Fill in fields and select settings

  • Site ID
  • API Key
  • Test Mode -> (enable if you are using sandbox credentials)

Success

You have connected Ozow Provider account!

First request to Corefy API (MIN)

What it does: creates a payout-invoice and sends funds to a South African bank account. Available banks (Absa, Nedbank, Standard Bank, FNB, Capitec, Investec, Discovery Bank, TymeBank, and more) depend on what Ozow confirms is available for your account.

Payout - MIN

POST /api/payout-invoices

{
  "data": {
    "type": "payout-invoice",
    "attributes": {
      "reference_id": "8c9d0e13-4f5a-4b6c-8d89-0e1f2a3b4c5d",
      "service": "standard_bank_zar",
      "currency": "ZAR",
      "amount": 10,
      "fields": {
        "account_number": "1234567890"
      }
    }
  }
}

Important

fields.account_number is required - Corefy encrypts it automatically before sending it to Ozow, nothing extra for you to do.

Payout - MAX

POST /api/payout-invoices

{
  "data": {
    "type": "payout-invoice",
    "attributes": {
      "reference_id": "9d0e1f24-5a6b-4c7d-8e90-1f2a3b4c5d6e",
      "service": "standard_bank_zar",
      "currency": "ZAR",
      "amount": 10,
      "customer": {
        "reference_id": "cus_123"
      },
      "fields": {
        "account_number": "1234567890"
      }
    }
  }
}

customer is entirely optional.

Extended request (MAX)

Why add extra fields (typical reasons): - Provide additional customer details for compliance/reconciliation - Positively influence conversion rate - Include optional fields required by your specific flow

Additional info

  1. Callback routing is automatic - Corefy generates the callback/return URLs per transaction, nothing to configure in Ozow's own back-office.
  2. Active reconciliation is available - both Payments and Payouts support an active status request, in addition to the asynchronous callback.
  3. No refunds - this connector does not support refunds through Corefy at this time.

FAQ / Troubleshooting

  • Invalid credentials / auth error -> verify the credentials for the selected account type and environment - Merchant account and Provider account use entirely different credential sets
  • Refund request fails -> refunds aren't supported by this connector
  • A specific bank isn't showing up as a payout option -> Ozow only exposes banks it confirms are available for your account at connection time
  • Currency or service is not supported -> confirm allowed methods in your Ozow account and in Corefy - only ZAR is available
